I've had a bunch of Warlord Games Early Imperial Romans lying about for a while now, and I've had no idea what to do with them. That is until I discovered Kings of War. The game that has filed the whole that Warhammer Fantasy has left behind. I've decided to make a Roman themed Kingdom's of Men army. I don't even need to by much for them, I've got a load already.
I've managed to knock out the first unit in a couple of days. The shield transfers were a tad fiddly and are a wee bit squint as a result.
I just need to mount them on a bit of card and they'll be ready for battle.

Home Raiders Unboxing
What is Home Raiders? Home Raiders is the newest skirmish game by David Esbri at Vesper-On Games. How to describe it? It's like the borrowers, its also the worlds first 1:1 scale wargame. Tiny people battling out in your house. So what's the story?
It all started with a fellow called Gulliver and his interaction with the tiny people of Lilliput. After he left the people of Lilliput decided they wanted to find him again... or at least more of his kind. So they searched their entire world and couldn't find him. It turns out he was from another dimension. The people of Lilliput, being so tiny, have very short life spans. As a result they're technology has become more advanced than our own. This lent rise to the development of the portals. The portals allowed them to travel to other dimensions and meet all sorts of new peoples. They traded the portal technology with these new cultures and then all hell broke loose. All the races with this technology found our dimension and have decided to use it for their own ends. Our homes became the battlegrounds.
So what are the races in the game?
New Lilliput These are the decedents of those that met Gulliver. They feel responsible for the other races invading our homes, so they see it as their duty to tidy up the mess the others make. If everything is okay in your home, then it's under the protection of New Lilliput.
Gremlins. These are malicious creatures. They covet technology and see what's yours is theirs. They invade your homes and loot bits out of your machinery. You know you have an infestation of gremlins when your stuff starts breaking down. If your TV stops working and your fridge breaks then you've got gremlins.
Fair Folk. The Fair Folk used to live in harmony with humans. Back when we lived in forest and believed in fairies. Once we forgot about them they moved into another dimension. However they never forgot about us. Once they gained access to the portal technology they decided they would seek us out again... And they brought nature with them. If you have the Fair Folk in your house then you probably have mould, damp and moss too.
The Freeloaders. These are pack rats (literally). Again they see your stuff as theirs. They rearrange your things as they see fit. They're the reason you can never find your keys.
The Lords of Dust. They polluted their dimension with their industries. Their industry kicks out lots of dust. They stole the portal technology as means to get rid of some of the surplus dust. Unfortunately to power it their industry is pumping out more dust than ever before. They see our world as relatively dust free and as a result is the perfect dumping ground. Yes you guessed it they're the reason your house gets dusty. Did I mention they're Egyptian Penguins?
In the box you get a very thin rulebook. They rules are quite simple.
The box is also figure case... Epic Win.
I got mine via Kickstarter, so it came with a preview miniature of their next project.
I got a Kickstarter exclusive gremlin pilot.
You get tokens, dice ans stuff.
A pile of clear bases. Why clear? You play this game around your house, so the terrain changes all the time. You might play one game on the coffee table, another on a bookcase and another round the bathroom sink. It makes sense.
stat cards
I'm not sure if this elephant pirate guy is kickstarter exclusive. He is one of the few 2 piece miniatures in the box.
You get a bunch of New Lilliput figures.
And a bunch of Gremlins.
I also got a kickstarter exclusive dice bag.
Bonus Stuff: Lords of Dust
I got these along with my kickstarter. They're Egyptian penguins, I couldn't resist. At the time of writing these are currently unreleased.
Look they've got tiny gatling guns.
I love the big boogly eyed scarab.
I honestly think the game is fantastic for beginners. The rules are simple. You don't need to build any terrain, you play all round your home. Many models can interact with stuff around your home too. The bigger ones can shove things out the way. That cup of tea your guy is hiding behind, as soon as you pick it up to take a drink out of it I can shoot him.
Most of the models are one piece. They're pretty big too, which makes them easy to paint. Just remember to paint them before gluing them to the bases. Also the box is a figure case.
The background is easy to follow, it's light hearted and many of the races are just downright silly. The only downside thus far that there are no expansions for it at the time of writing. Only the boxed game is currently available. Although I'm sure the expansions will be out in due time.
If you want to get into miniatures gaming, or want to introduce a friend, or your kids to it then pick this up. You wont be disappointed.

Dungeon Saga: The Abyssals
Now I didn't get abyssal expansion with my Dungeon Saga Kickstarter pledge. However I did get the heroes (see a later post) and one set of abyssals with it. These guys are kind of fun to paint.
Lets check out the lesser abyssals first
These dudes are the lowest order of abyssals. As such they're carrying stone weapons and their scavenged bronze armour is covered in verdigris. I used GW's Nihilakh Oxide technical paint to achieve this.
Now the abyssal warrior and succubus.
This pair were slightly miscast. They detail isn't as crisp, but I've done my best to make the most of a bad situation. Being higher ranked abyssals their bronze is clean.
Now the effrit and tortured soul.
The effrit is my favourite out of the bunch. I guess I just like painting fire.
Now the hellhound
Last but by no means least the mighty moloch
Big, brutal and fuck ugly.
