So this unexpectedly turned up at my door today.
I backed this kickstarter because it is A. Pacific Rim (those movies are awesome). B. pre painted, so i can just get stuck in and C. had a pretty cheap base pledge. The above is the base pledge.
Let's get stuck in.
Very nice box. Visually appealing. Me likey.
The miniatures and dice. I liked the stepped insert for the cards.
There's 4 sizes of card. All with different functions. I've not read the rules yet, so I've no idea what everything does.
Rulebook. It's not too thick, so I'm assuming this game is pretty simple.
The dashboards for the minis.
A double sided paper game mat. I would have preferred card, but you can't have everything. I do like that one side is a city and the other is the ocean floor.
Tokens, buildings and whatnot.
Shrikethorn. Pretty cool looking.
Gypsy Avenger. FUCK YEAH!
Scrapper. A kickstarter exclusive. Imma have to paint this one.
Now on to Hakuja, one of the wave one expansions
You get it's dashboard
Hakuja looks pretty cool.
Now to the next wave one expansion
Gypsy Danger. FUCK YEAH!
Gypsy's dashboard.
I wanna use this one.
And the final wave one expansion that came with my pledge.
Saber Athena.
Dashboard.
Saber Athena has laser blades.
All the expansions come with pilot cards and upgrades. I forgot to take pictures of them.
I really want to get a few games of this. Pacific Rim is awesome. The prepaints aren't anything to write home about, but their better than most prepaints on the market. Repainting them is an option, but I'm going to leave mine as is. I've got enough to paint as is.

Deep Madness Core Set Unboxing
Since Halloween has just passed I though I should do something scary. And what's scarier than Lovecraftian horror? Nothing that's what... well maybe the current political climate but aside from that it's maddening gribble monsters. So here we have Deep Madness by Dimension Games. If you like what you see they have a second printing on kickstarter at the time of writing (I'm in no way affiliated with Dimension Games I just think this shit is cool). Let's look at the stuff...
It came in a huge box
Today we will be looking at the core box, which is the biggest.
That's a super dungeon explore desktop, the box isn't on fire, honest. It's big, meaty and has quite a bit of heft to it (ooh-er missus).
Inside the box you get a rule book, with a good whack of narrative scenarios.
There's three sheets of tokens.
A big tray of minis.
More minis and a good pile of double side board tiles.
Dice, cards bases. There's a butt load of black monster bases that I forgot to photograph... oops.
More cards under the other cards.
From left to right; Roman Asimov (biochemist), Randi Carter (researcher), Felecia Armitage (doctor), Samuel Smith (captain), Athur Weyland (engineer) and Jared Drake (soldier).
Putrid, mind eater, husk and agony.
Hysteria, blind, delirium, and two different sculpts of ravenous.
Twisted and substance.
Madness within and bathophobia.
As far as the components go I'm really impressed with them. The sculpts are gorgeous or hideous depending on your point of view. My only gripe is that the mind eaters aren't that well secured, every time i open the box they've all bloody moved.
So what's the story? Well in a nutshell a secret underwater research facility has gone dark. A team of investigators have been sent in to find out what happened. Their submarine gets attacked by some leviathan and they effectively crash into the facility. Upon entering they find that the facility is overrun with horrible monsters and their quest for survival begins. Basically it's heavily influenced by Lovecraft and Bioshock set in a very isolated environment.
I've not played it yet, but I hear it's brutal.

Mythic Battles Pantheon unboxing
This arrived a couple of weeks ago.
That little lot was heavy. But it is glorious, is it not?
Although my cats were more interested in the box.
I'm not going to do the whole lot in a oner, I'm crazy but not a masochist. So I'll unbox the main game first.
That's this one.
Opening the lid. It's well packed.
The next layer down.
Opening the miniatures box. Let's look at them in close up
Hyrda and Cerberus
Zeus and Ares
Hades and Athena
Medusa and the minotaur.
A hoplite, a spartan and a centaur. You get 5 hoplites, 3 spartans and 2 centaurs.
An amazon, an infernal warrior and an infernal hound. You get 4 amazons, 5 warriors and 5 hounds.
Odysseus, Atalanta and Leonidas.
Achilles and Heracles
You also get
A bag of Omphalos
A big wadge of these dice. The go from 0-5.
4 reference sheets, 2 in English an 2 in French.
2 double sided boards.
Getting started, rulebook and scenario book. You get a French set of these too.
Double sided stat cards. English on one side and French on the other.
3d cardboard terrain.
I really can't wait for a game of this.
