Well I've been busy painting furiously to prepare for the first game of Warhammer Quest at my gaming club next week. I've been trying to get the heroes done and I've done horde of critters. And basically I've decided to show them off. So lets start with the first group of heroes.
So here we have a male barbarian from Heresy Miniatures, a classic warrior priest from GW and a wizard from Reaper. The barbarian is my favourite of the bunch and very reminiscent of Conan. I tried to keep his colours reasonably neutral to represent his upbringing. The priest I found in a bunch of old empire models I was selling off,and thought he'll do. I repainted him to look more in line with the current GW priests, with the red robes and all. I also tried to emphasise the warrior aspects and kept the gold and bronze colours to a minimum. Now the wizard who unfortunately has not been chosen by any of the group in the forthcoming campaign, has been done in grey robes. I decided he would be from the grey college. To represent his shadowy nature I've deliberately kept him quite earthy, with a blond beard (because you don't see them often). I'm kind of bummed out that no-one chose to be a wizard, because I really like this figure.
Next up we have a female Bretonian knight, a dwarf and a female barbarian all of whom are from Reaper. Only the dwarf is being used in the campaign. I painted the knight up in the manner of knight templar. Why? Well I though it'd look cool. I don't know why but I really like the sculpt on this model, it just really appeals to me. Next up have the dwarf. I like this model too (hell I like all 3). He looks the adventuring type with his back pack. I deliberately didn't dull down the metals on him, my reason being that dwarfs are superior metal smiths thus would have superior quality gear, and would probably take better care of it. Last up is a the female barbarian. I love the wolf's emblem on her shield. I've painted her to be a bit more extravagantly dressed than the male one, perhaps she's the daughter of a chieftain who has snuck off to seek her fortune.
Gribbly Time
Here we have a couple of Dark Elf Black Guards. Really old ones. The might be old but I think they're pretty awesome. Being black guards I've painted them really dark (although the flash on my camera seems to have illuminated them).
Here we have a group of beastmen. There's more where that came from, I just need to paint them first. We have the new plastic shaman (love the model), a couple of gors and a beastlord (he's on a round base because I couldn't find a square one). I've done them in quite earth colours to represent their barbaric nature.
Next we have the critters. A bunch of metal snotlings, the extra spiders from the arachnarok, and the spare nurglings from the plastic nurgling set. I used picture of spiders for inspiration for the spiders (the ones with orange butts do exist).
