Star Wars Imperial Assault - Royal Guard Champion Unboxing

Let's have a looksie at the newest addition to my Imperial Assault collection the Royal Guard Champion.  Normal Royal Guard are bad assed but this guy kicks it up a notch.

He's pretty cool looking.  Nice dynamic pose with a big twin ended glaive.

You get a double sided sheet.  One side has a layout for the two skirmish missions in the set.  The other side has a campaign mission on it.

A couple of influence cards.

A campaign side mission card and a stat card.  He's quite the bad ass, look at all those different dice he gets to roll, and all those surge abilities, and he can attack two enemies per turn.

Two skirmish missions that are played on the above map layout.

And a wad of skirmish upgrades.

Heresy Miniatures Dragon

I finally built it.  I've only had it a year, which is a drop in the ocean when you look at all the hardship the Heresy went through to sculpt and cast it, and mine was quite far down the queue.  Given how costly these were to produce Heresy no longer make them, so sorry to all you people out there that see this and go "Ooh! I want one!"

It's standing on a cup for a reason.  The tail dips down below the rock its perched on, which means it doesn't sit stably.  The cup also demonstrates how big the thing is.  It barely fits in my Ikea display cabinet.  I've ordered some HDF bases to raise it permanently.  The next stage of the process is to fill in the gaps, then I can start painting it.

Firefly

Take my love,
Take my land,
Take me where I cannot stand... Oh wait wrong Firefly!

I'm talking about the DC villain.

He's got a jet pack and flamethrower, which makes him a very useful addition to both my Joker and Scarecrow gangs.  He has the handyman ability, which makes him a phenomenal objective grabber when combined with his ability to fly.  The downside is his pyromania mental disorder.  This means he has to move towards a character with a fire marker unless he spends an action point.  Given that he only has a willpower of 6 it means his pyromania will be harder to resist once he takes a few hits.

For The Glory Of Rome #7 Praetorians

Well they're finally finished (aside from the movement tray).  Here's my Praetorians.  I'm going to use them as foot guard with the "blessing of the gods" upgrade to give them the "elite" rule. I really enjoyed painting these guys, and the transfers for them are of a significantly better quality than the legionaries.

Rogues and Rangers

A painted a few RPG minis today while I was waiting for the bases on my praetorians to dry.  This time I did a pair of rangers and a pair of rogues.

The male elf ranger

This guy is from Reaper's Bones range.  I've painted him up as an urban ranger.  There's a guy playing a ranger in my D&D campaign who grew up in a city, hence the urban scheme.

The female elf ranger

This one is from Reaper's Dark Haven Legends range.  I pretty sure she came with a panther, she's been in my collection for a while so I can't quite remember.  I've done her in more traditional ranger colours.  One question about her though.  She has a bow, why doesn't she have any arrows?

The human rogue

This one is from Dark Sword Miniatures.  I quite like the fact that she's trying to hide a grappling hook behind her back.  I've done her in neutral colours so that she blends in with a crowd.

The dwarf rogue.

Or should I say assassin.  He's from Reaper's Warlord range.  I've gave him a stereotypical assassin's black cloak.  I like the dynamic pose on this one.

Some more RPG heroines

I'm taking another small break from my Romans (they take bloody ages).  So I've done a dwarf thief and an elf mage.  Both are from Reaper Miniatures, and this pair are part of their Bones range.

Let's look at the dwarf first

Now the elf

Now back to painting these praetorians

BMG Battle Report: Scarecrow vs Bane vs Cyborg

Yesterday I played a 350 rep triple threat game of the Batman Miniature's Game.  We played scenario one, a chance encounter, and modified it for an extra turn for a total of nine.  We picked a chance encounter because it's the most fair for a multiplayer game. During a chance encounter no models are deployed on the board at the start of the game, they instead move on from a random table edge, which means no one is stuck in the middle fighting a war on two fronts.  We're all using new models so none of them are painted.

Let's look at the board

We decided on a dockland layout with the ship counting as an entire table edge.

Lets look at some highlights.

Smash sneaks up on Cyborg but gets affected by Scarecrow's fear gas, and gets horrendously screwed up.  Smash ducked down that manhole he's standing up on his next turn to escape.

My militia armed with a carbine and a RPG take up sniping positions on the roof.

The knife militia gets stalked by McGreggor, a titan thug and AC Scarecrow.  Meanwhile Catman get's the fuck out of dodge.

A badly shot up Cyborg flies up to the roof only to catch a rocket with his face.  BOOM! HE DEAD!

Bravo sneaks up on Bane and fires his shotgun... and misses.  Bane does not like this and spends the rest of the game trying to beat him to death.

A scrum starts on the ship

Things change once Deathstroke gets stuck in.

Catman murders my militiaman and Deathstroke does some tactical maneuvering.

Things start to get busy in among the cluster-fuck of objectives.

BANG! Dallas guns down Hawkgirl before going to turn the batsignal off.

Scarecrow steals the loot, while Bane's mercenaries run to the ammo crates.  Scarecrow then lets off his fear gas.

Things are hotting up on the ship.  Deathstroke carves the titan thug into tiny bits with his katana.  Catman thinks better of taking on Deathstroke and jumps off the boat.

Scarecrow decides he doesn't like bullets or hammers and legs it.

Catman eyes up his next target as does Deathstroke.

This game can be summed up in two words.  Brutal and mental.  The game was absolute chaos and extremely fun.  Bane won the game with 24 victory points, with Scarecrow coming in second with 23 and Cyborg coming in last with 20.  All in all a very close fought game.
