Court of Owls; Talon's Night Batbox

My brother very kindly gave me The Court of Owls Batbox for my birthday.  The box contains a full 350 rep crew, as well as objectives and upgrade cards.

Let's jump right in.

Xiao Loong

Strix

William Cobb

The Gotham Butcher

I've done all my talons in the same dark brown scheme.  I've also gone with coppery armour.  Any exposed flesh has been painted pale, they are reanimated owls after all.

Lincoln March
I've tried to copy the comics here.  I'm pretty pleased how he came out.

Owl objectives

You might have noticed the cobblestone bases.  I achieved this with greenstuff and a greenstuff roller from Greenstuff World.

I'm really looking forward to getting these down on the table.

Battle For Pelennor Fields Evil side

Time for the evil side.   I hope you like orcs because there's a lot of them in this box.

Let's get right into the orcs.  Prepare for a lot of images.

I've tried to give them a broken uniform look.  I picked 3 colours for the cloth and varied what items of clothing I applied them to.  I've kept the same dark grungy armour throughout.  I also varied up the skin colours.

I've gone with the same armour with all the Mordor forces, just to tie them all together.

I've kept the Witch King and his fellbeast deliberately dark, to tie them into the movies. My biggest concern with this miniature is how the hell am I going to store and transport it.

Again I would like to increase my force up to 1000 points, which would be easier if I found all my old stuff from back in the day.

Batman Nightmare Version

As a wee break from Pelennor Fields I've done the nightmare version of Batman.  Don't worry I've finished painting Pelennor Fields, I've just run out of grass tufts, more should arrive later in the week.  But for now Batman.

This is the Batman you bring if you have to murder everyone in the room.  Yes I mean murder everyone, he has a fucking machine gun.  He's pricey at 132 rep, but he really brings the pain.  He has the usual bat-armour mk1 and batclaw that most versions have.  So he's tough and maneuverable.  He's got the usual Batman stats, although defense 4, so he's easier to hit.  He's got aversion to Kal-El, so you can't take him with Superman.  He's got detective so can cancel one of your opponent's passes.

He really excels at offense.  He's got close combat master for +1 to hit while unarmed, combined with reinforced gloves for extra damage.  He's also got martial artist so you don't get the outnumbering bonus.  Where he really shines is his mixed combat style rule.  He can hit people in melee and shoot people in the same activation, and the shoot action is free.  That's fucking mental.  Especially when both his guns have three rate of fire.

In conclusion if you want a Batman that will kill everyone in the room, then this is the Batman for you.  Downside is he is a limited run, but crops up on ebay and the Knight Model's webstore from time to time.

Pelenor Fields the Good side

This is my first blog in a month because I've been painting this bad boy, as well as planning wedding stuff... and playing Red Dead Redemption 2.  So it's safe to say I'm not dead.  I've got as far as painting the good side, I've used loads a grass tufts and I've primed the evil side... Imma have to buy more tufts.... meh.

Be warned there's a lot of images.

Riders of Rohan

Warriors of Rohan

King Theoden

Army of the Dead

The Army of Dead are really easy to paint.  First spray them with white primer.  Then hit them with a coat of two of GWs Nihlakh Oxide, the technical paint for painting verdigris.  It took me longer to base them than to paint them.

I'm going to use Rohan as my main Good side Middle Earth Strategy Game force.  I plan to eventually bring my Rohan force up to about 1000 points of pure cavalry.

Now to start painting the orcs.
