Why So Serious?

For my last post of 2016 I thought I 'd do my Heath Ledger version of the Joker.  He's a mini I've wanted for ages but never got around to buying.  Luckily I got him for Christmas.  He was really enjoyable to paint, and didn't take too long.  He just needs a coat of matt varnish to take the shine off.

With that I shall wish you a happy new year and I hope 2017 is good to you.

Jungle terrain part 2

Despite the fact that I'm dying of the flu, I've managed to finish another building.  A guard tower from Sarissa Precision's Far East range.  I've gone for a felt roof this time to give it a more militaristic feel.   I made the roof felt from sandpaper.

Jungle Terrain part 1

The Flash and Arrow expansion book for the batman Miniatures Game came with optional rules for fighting in different cities and areas.  One of these was the island of Lian Yu.  When I saw that I knew I needed to make my own jungle terrain.

Jungle terrain is very versatile.  I could use it for the BMG, or Bolt Action.  It would be pretty funny to see my German's wandering around in the Pacific.  I could use it for 40k, you get jungles in space.  Or even Malifaux for the depths of the bayou.  I'm sure it could be useful for a whole plethora of games that I don't play.

Enough rambling you came here for the pictures and I shall not disappoint you.

This one is a low stilted palm house  from Sarrisa Precision's Far East range.  I tried to go with a palm roof made from the instruction sheet.  I've done it in earthy colours to try make it look natural.  The only down side to this is that it's a bit of a squeeze to get a 30mm base on the porch.  25mm bases fit perfectly.

This is also from Sarrisa Precision's Far East range.  They call it a check point, but if you  filled in the gaps in the fence I don't see why I couldn't be used as an animal pen.  I don't think this would look out of place in a more European styled board.  I could see my Germans sitting in this guarding a river crossing, or the entrance to a village.  I might get another one and experiment by giving it a felt roof.

Some RPG Villains

I've done some more RPG villains. This time in the form of a drow mage and a mindflayer.  Both are from Reaper Miniatures

Drow Sorcerer

I've gone for a purple skin tone, jet black is really hard to paint.  And besides dark elves have to have some sort of variation in their skin.  I plan to use him as a spell caster with a flair for the dramatic.  That fireball he's conjured looks like a bat.  Like most of my RPG miniatures he could be used in Dungeon Saga.

Mindflayer

Mindflayers one of the most terrifying D&D monsters.  I think he's quite cool.  He's a metal miniature, and I had to put a bse on him because he kept face planting the desk.  I went for some brighter colours rather than the usual blacks you usually see them in, he's got a sense of style.
