Malifaux (in)Justice no 2

I've just finished another member of my Bound By Law crew.  I call him Johnny Law.  Two reasons for this, firstly he's a lawyer and secondly he's carrying a big book with law written on it.

He looks a bit like an evil Richard O'Brien.  I reckon that the lawyers of all wear masks to prevent the families of their clients from recognising them and forming lynch mobs.  Given his evil grin and somewhat sinister pose (he is making gestures with his left hand after all) he's probably a prosecutor and he's going to throw the book at you.

Malifaux (in)Justice no 1

Welcome to the first of my new painting mini-series Malifaux (in)Justice.  In this series I intend to show case my Guild, in particular my Bound by Law crew (Lucius), hence the name (in)Justice.  I've decided to leave the main man until last and start with the peons... I mean highly valued members of the constabulary who are in no way manipulated and victimised by their boss.

Here's the guild guard.  You get 2 in the Bound By Law crew box and 2 in the guild guard pack.  The men went together quite easily, the girls where a bit trickier and the instructions on the website weren't great.

Lets have a closer look at the men

I have dubbed them James Rogan and Seth Franco (I might have just watched the interview when I started painting them).  I really like the pose on these guys, they're stoically waiting for the bad guys (but not as bad as their boss) to show themselves.

Now the girls

I left the cleavage shot for last (he he boobies).  The girls are named Erza Hearfillia and Lucy Scarlet.  If you get the reference give yourself a cookie.  They're in a more dynamic pose, running and gunning or leaning round a corner.

Operation Endtimes no18 Vlad VonCarstein, Mortarch of Shadow and Friends

Is that title too long?  I've had a wee binge on painting my undead this week, although the mountain is still pretty high (there's still lots that I've not even assembled yet).  Never mind this introduction drivel you came for the minis so here they are.

Vlad VonCarstein, Mortarch of Shadow

I've had Vlad for a while (he's metal not finecast), and for that while he was only half painted.  I decided to finally paint him.  I think I've outdone myself on him.  Out of the four mortarchs I've painted he's the one I'm most proud of.  I've gone for dark armour to offset his ghost cloak.  I decided to go with an ethereal cloak rather than the spirits escaping from a red one that the eavy metal team have done because it's far more striking.

More wraiths.  These are the previous iteration of the wraiths.

And even more wraiths.  The one on the left with the knife is a 4th edition wraith, the one on the right is a conversion.  He's a wraith from a black coach (which has been scattered to the winds).  Since he was sitting down I decided to plonk him on a gravestone and have dubbed him lazy wraith.  Despite being top heavy he's actually quite well balanced.

Last but not least a Necromancer.  I made him from Empire Wizard kit.  I decided to keep him dark to contrast with the sword.

I think the time has come to start Nagash.  I've got a lot of free time coming up in March so I'll have a crack at him then.

You have failed this city!

Are you a fan of the TV show Arrow? I am.  Can you guess my second crew for the Batman Miniatures Game?  That's right it's Twoface... just kidding.  It's the Green Arrow.

So without further ado lets get onto the main man himself.

This is Arrow (from the TV show).  He was actually really quick to paint up.  Well his entire ensemble is the same colour after all.  I'm quite chuffed at how the green came out.  What I'm not so happy with is his face.  He actually had a hole in his forehead that I had to fill, which was tricky.  I'm not to happy at how his mask came out, my freehand isn't great.  Overall I think he's serviceable.

So why did I pick Green Arrow as a second faction?  Admittedly  I was toying with the idea of Twoface or Black Mask as well, but I wanted something with a lower body count than my Joker crew.  I wanted a crew of bad ass heroes, so that left Batman, Green Arrow and Watchmen.  My brother plays Batman and I don't have any attachments to the Watchmen so that left Green Arrow.  My next expansion for this crew is probably going to be Speedy, just need to resist the pull of the new Titan Joker.

Chosen by the Gods

I found a few chosen chaos space marines on my desk and decided to paint them (mainly because they were already primed).
These are painted in my own Maledict Brotherhood scheme.  Characterised by the black armour, bone trim and skull like helms.  They're also wearing the skins of their enemies as a loin cloth.

Lets have a closer look.

Dude number 1 is equipped with a power axe.  A really big power axe.  If that thing were real the blade would be about 4 feet long and this mofo is holding it in one hand... Bad arse!  He's also got a really cool minotaur like helm. But my favorite feature about him is on his back.  He's got a mutation, tentacles that are loading his bolter.

Dude number 2.  He is armed a powerfist.  He looks like he's about to break into a run.  He's not something I want to come charging at me.

Dude number 3 is a bog standard bolter, bolt pistol and close combat guy.  However there is something about his pose that just looks really menacing.

Undead Legionnaires

I finally got around to painting some of my Warzone miniatures.  I used to play Warzone back in the 90's, and played Dark Legion.  I've misplaced most of my old stuff, but downloaded the old rules a few years back with the idea of rebuilding my forces with conversions.  However the Warzone Resurection kickstarter saved me a lot of bother.  Now I still play the Dark Legion, only now with some nice new rules and minis.

Here's some undead legionnaires
I've gone with black armour as a uniform look.  I wanted them to look like corpses that have been picked up, dusted off, shoved down a production line and tossed back onto the battlefield.  The next five that I do will have different coloured boots and trousers.  I've based them (yes I based something  I'm amazed too) to look like they're on Mars.  I still need to seal the bases, and I better remember to do it.  Turns out the material I used is made from tree nut by-products and I don't want to kill any of my opponents... that would be bad.

Operation End times no17 Screaming Skull Catapult

In this installment a squasher of troops, a slayer of monsters an assassin of generals... a screaming skull catapult.  Ok its not the massive GW one, its the Mantic one.  But you know what I like the Mantic one better.  Its less cartoony.

Now screaming skull catapults have three crew, this one only comes with two.  So I need to find another. Audition time.
Could work, but I'm not sure I can trust him.
Hmmm... nah! makes the catapult redundant.
Arrow could work, but being in the employ of the undead might go against his moral compass.
Badass, but I think he lacks the training.
Ah f**k it! an extra skeleton will do.
