SAGA - Age of Magic Undead

I've been repainting and rebasing  a bunch of undead for use in SAGA - Age of Magic.   I've got 10 points worth here, which is what's considered enough for a big game.  In my warband I have a warlord, a sorcerer, a black knight, two points of hearthguard with heavy weapons, four points of warriors, two points of mindless and a scourge.

The Mindless
Instead of normal levies units, the undead have mindless.  They're big tar pit units and the only unit in the game that can exceed 12 men, as far as I know anyway.  They're mindless, what better miniatures to represent them than zombies.    They're a mix of Games Workshop and Mantic Zombies.  These got a brand new paint job.

Warriors
For my warriors I've used skeletons.  These are the workhorse of my warband.  These were painted, all I've done is weather the metals, repaint the cloth to make them less uniform and gave them a brown wash to tone them down.  I've actually painted the cloth and shields in the colours of various Dawnish houses from Empire.

 Hearthguard

These are grave guard.  I've pretty much painted these guys up.  I wanted these guys to be uniform, they're elite troops, and they've probably been raised from the same grave site.  I also didn't rust them up, I like to think their tombs have suitably protected them from the elements.

Black Knight

This is a really old GW vampire.  I've completely stripped him and repainted him.

Sorcerer
Another old GW vampire.  I was going to go with a necromancer, then thought this a vampire would be a different approach.

 Warlord
This is a collection of minis from different companies.  The warlord himself is from Darksword miniatures.   The two skeletons are from GW, from the mid 90's.

 The Scourge

Scourges are one of the three monster types.  Titans are the tough slow ones, behemoths are the fast angry ones and scourges are the flying, fire breathing ones.  This is a terrorgheist from GW.  I've had this for years, and I glued it up wrong.  But I don't care it looks like it's screaming.

Moving forward I want to add cavalry, archers and creatures.  I'd quite like to add other hero and monster variants.

I've also got two more SAGA projects in the works.  I'm working on a Lords of the Wild warband for my other half and a Great Kingdoms warband based on my military unit from Empire.

Operation Endtimes no 23 Melkior the Ancient

I know Melkior was well dead before the Endtimes even happened, but that doesn't stop me using him as vampire lord on an abyssal terror.  It also struck me as a bit daft the Vlad was the only soul from beyond the grave to accept Nagash's offer to become a Mortarch.  Melkior was fanatical to Nagash's teachings, it seems to me that he would have jumped at the chance.

Enough waffle, here he is

Operation Endtimes no 22 Necromancer

I've just finished a necromancer for my undead, he's also my necromantic cleric from my gaming groups upcoming dungeons and dragons campaign.  This necromancer is from Heresy Miniatures.  He comes with 3 head options. The one I used. One with long manky hair.  And an evil devil sorcerer one with horns and a goatee. He also comes with an optional hat.

Operation End Times no 21 Mannfred Von Carstein, Mortarch of Night

I finally got around to painting Mannfred.  He's been sitting next to my desk for three months waiting to get painted.  And now he's painted he can grace the battlefield.

So who wants to see some pictures?

Well that's the last of the Mortarchs.  Just need to keep plodding through the units.

Just a quick point on Age of Sigmar.  I wont be playing it.  The miniatures look hideous.  I'm going to continue playing 8th edition Warhammer Fantasy.  And Games Workshop can shove their round bases up their collective arses.

Operation end times no 20 Cry of the Banshee

First of all I'm totally listening to Cry of the Banshee by Brocca's Helm as I type this.  Secondly I've painted a banshee.  That is all.

Mannfred Von Carstein, Mortarch of Night

I recently received a third Mortarch for my birthday, and since I already had the other two this one had to be Mannfred.

After building two other Mortarchs I managed to put Mannfred together quite quickly.  I even managed to get his dread abyssal to stand more upright.

The ghosts are snaking their way through the tombstones.

I think Mannfred looks cool but I don't like his sword.  It just looks like a really lazy sculpt.  I think the older versions of him had a better looking blade.

It might take me a few weeks to get this bugger painted as I've got a chaos space marine army to finish for an upcoming league at my club.  Aside from that I have more martians on my desk in the paintingg que too.

Operation End Times no19 Nagash, Supreme Lord of the Undead

After about twenty hours of painting I've finished big daddy death himself.

I have to say that as amazing as Nagash looks he's a bitch to paint.  All the ghosts make him really springy, which is a real pain.  However I battled on and I'm quite pleased with the results.
