I'm mentally psyching myself up paint another horde of spear armed Ratkin warriors. So in the interim I've painted up a trio of Ratkin warlocks, because magicy lightning destruction.
Warlock 1
He was probably the hardest to paint of the three. He's just too busy. Got there in the end though.
Warlock 2
A really old grey seer. Really nice to paint. Some of the really old miniatures from GW are so nice to paint.
Warlock 3
A plastic warlock engineer from the Island of Blood set. Blissfully simple to paint.
These will be used in my Ratkin army, maybe not all at the same time. But I can also use them in Warhammer Quest.

Hobby Resolutions for 2018
I got a nice hobby haul for Christmas. I got some reinforcements for my Death Guard and some more Batman minis. I also got a set of resin dungeon tiles that are not pictured here, but expect to see them soon.
So what about my hobby resolutions for this year? If split them into 3 parts; painting, gaming and hobby. I've done this for easiness sake. My aim is to use these goals as a check list, and I've tried to keep it manageable, so that I can actually stick to them. Enough waffle let's get onto the first category; painting.
Painting Resolutions for 2018.
1. To paint my core set of Mythic Battles Pantheon. I got Mythic Battles Pantheon a couple of days ago (expect an unboxing) and I really want to paint it. I also really want to play it.
2. To paint my Return to Hoth expansion for Imperial Assault. I've had it for a year, it needs paint.
3. To paint my Death Guard. In addition to those pictured above I boughs 3 myphitic blight haulers, another plagueburst crawler and a foul blightspawn. I also want to bring my old plague marines up to the same level.
4. To finish painting my Walking Dead Stuff. Shouldn't be too bad.
5. To paint a minimum of 10 Batman minis. I've got too many unpainted, I need to rectify that.
6. To paint 2 units of Romans for my kingdoms of Men army. I want to get them finished.
Gaming Resolutions for 2018.
1. To play more games. In all seriousness my anxiety has been really bad this past year and I've played very few games in 2017. So I need to try and go to my local gaming club and FLGS more and play something.
2. Play more Warhammer 40,000. Since the 8th edition of 40k dropped I've not played a single game. I need to fix that. My Death Guard need to hit the table again.
3. To get my Skype D&D game up and running. I'm hoping to start this at the end of February. Don't expect videos, but I might do a recap of each session, we'll see.
4. To go to Empire. I've wanted to take up LARP (that's live action role play for the uninitiated) and Empire by Profound Decisions has really caught my eye. Empire runs 4 times a year. I'm not going to have my kit in time to got to the first one, and I can't go to the second due to work. I'm eyeing up Empire 3 as my first foray into the world (I put holidays in for it). I'm going to join the nation of Dawn. I really like the Arthurian aesthetic of Dawn. Expect to see a few logs on my costume progress.
5. To do a few battle reports. I might play a few games of Warhammer Quest or Dungeon Saga against my self.
Hobby Resolutions for 2018.
1. To finish 4 Batman buildings. I have a lot of painted Batman minis, but the terrain is lacking. Need to fix this.
2. Rebase 3 Skaven units for Kings of War. I want my Rats to take to the field again.
3. Acquire a folding gaming table. My dining table is too small.
So these are my hobby resolutions for this year. What are yours?

Warhammer Quest; Daemon Summoning
When we last left our adventurers they had just accepted a quest to investigate some strange lights coming from a nearby abandoned manse.
Having traveled for most of the day our intrepid band of heroes arrived at the gates of Vretund Hall just as the sun was beginning to set. The rumours of mysterious lights proved true. The windows of the manse were glowing a baleful green.
"The winds of magic are flowing here like a river." Said Milia "I believe someone is attempting to summon a daemon of immense power."
"Well we cannae let them dae that, eh lass." grunted Snorri "Right lads! We'd better stop these bastards before they can hurt onybody!"
Onwards to glory.
Our heroes come across the first batch of guards. A horrifying horde of snotlings. Guess what happens? Yup, they get wiped out in one round.
Our heroes bust into the next room. Unfortunately the floor was littered with scorpions. So they start stamping on them. The were so busy killing the scorpions that they didn't notice the goblins lining the room. And they were none to please that a bunch of "do gooders" busted up their scorpion race. The shaman called upon his god, Mork (or possibly Gork), for aid, thus creating a magical blast wave that knocked the party on its collective arse.
A few goblins met their end in retaliation.
The goblin shaman calls down the foot of Gork (or possibly Mork) and squashes Snorri into dwarf jam. He is now drinking with his ancestors in Grimnir's Halls.
"HEY! GOBLIN SHAMAN!" *sound of an arrow loosing* "You just got elfed!"
And in the next room...
More goblins. A whole four of them. They didn't last long.
A few empty corridors later and we find the culprits. A horde of loathsome Skaven.
A handful of stormvermin lead the verminous horde.
Our heroes carve their way through the Skaven.
After a long and bloody battle our heroes prove victorious, and disrupt the summoning ritual. They would receive a hefty reward once the got back to town. But first they would raise a mug of Bugman's to Snorri's memory.

Warhammer Quest: The Deathking
The Greenshields were a mercenary regiment that was tasked too guard Blackfire Pass from greenskins. Unfortunately for them they were all but wiped out. The remnants of which are now wandering the Border Princes looking for work. These adventurers are the heroes of this tale. We have Rolf Gunderson the Norscan barbarian, Snorri Whitebeard the dwarf (no relation to the legendary white dwarf, although he does look like him), Ithalaen the elf, and Milia Sharif the Wizard.
Our merry band, well most of them are merry, Snorri is a grumpy bastard, was recruited by a local lord to take the Deathking's sword to his tomb and slay the draugr once and for all. This is where we pick up the tale. Let us enter the tomb of the Deathking.
After several boring empty corridors, our heroes came across a pair of hobgoblins. These mighty monsters (sarcasm alert) were no match for Rolf's axe and Ithalaen's bow. Or to put it another way they hobgoblins were playing dice before they were set upon by a multi-cultured mob of racists.
The next room was a guard room. All guardrooms in the dungeons of the Warhammer world have a checkerboard floor. And guarding this guard room were Skaven, eight of them to be exact.
After one round of combat Snorri had destroyed four of them in one mighty blow. Rolf killed a few, and Ithalaen and Milia killed the last two. Skaven are pussies.
Hopping through the door into the next room our heroes encountered some orcs, which were promptly frozen solid by Milia.
And onwards up the stairs.
Oh no! A chaos dwarf ambush.
After a long grueling battle the heroes finally got the upper hand.
Now for some winding, empty, boring corridors. Enough of them that Milia managed to heal the party up to full health.
At the end of this tunnel was the Deathking's Tomb. And guarding it was a brace of badly painted minotaurs (it wasn't me I got them in the game).
Two rounds later Rolf dispatched his opponent. Now it's Ithalaen's turn.
"You just got elfed!"
Having killed the guards all that was left was to dispatch the Deathking himself. A dice was rolled for each warrior, if the total was greater than 13 they would over come the Deathking's mind controlling magic. If they failed they would become his slaves.
Well he's fucked.
Rolf plunged the tip of Deathking's sword down through the draugr's rotten heart with such force that he nailed it's corpse the the stone sarcophagus. Lying next to the Deathking was a blade that gave of a fiery heat. It was none other than the Hellfire Sword. The party decided that none of them were suicidal enough to use such a destructive weapon, so the pawned it and kept the profits.
Having raked in considerable coin Ithalaen hit the training fields, ranking up to be slightly more badass than everyone else. The others just lounged about in the hamlet tending to their wounds. One their final day in the village they heard rumours of strange lights coming from a nearby deserted manse, and set off to investigate. But that is another tale.

The blog is back
I didn't really paint a whole lot last month. The majority of my gaming revolving around X-Wing, Call of Cthulhu, D&D and a hint of cards against humanity. However with me staring a new campaign of Quest tomorrow I should be getting back into my regular routine.
So what have I painted I hear you ask? Well I'll show you.
Another 20 red coats. That makes 40 so far, which is if I remember correctly about two thirds... or maybe half. I've got another couple of bases half done. I also started to assemble these...
ZULUS! The ones in this picture are married Zulus. These are the first of many. I think they turned out alright. And they're much quicker to paint up than the British.
A chaos dwarf sorcerer that a friend gave me. He's a limited edition Forge World miniature from Gamesday a few years back. And he's going to be featuring in my new Quest campaign.
Having played a game of 40k at an International Tabletop Day event I thought I might do a bit of work on my daemons. So I painted up one of my blood crushers.
Meet Harry the Bastard, the first player of my new Necromantic Bloodbowl team. One of the guys at my club is planning a Bloodbowl tournament later in the year, and I'm growing bored of my Skaven and I want to win it so that rules out my goblins, hence the new team. They play in black, mostly have pun names and go by the team name of the Drakwald Draugr.
Lastly is a Skorne cyclops savage from warmahordes that I'm doing as part of a commission.I think he's turned out alright. I'm currently working on Tyrant Xerxes, who is actually of my favorite Skorne warlock.
Well that's it for me, until next time, happy wargaming.

I am the night
I've done a little bit of painting today. Mainly Batman and one of the Joker's goons. I also finished off a few Medusae that I started last week for warhammer quest.
I've also been working on a Necromunda conversion game that I call Horde Mode. Where a group of survivors must hold out against waves of zombies. Expect more on this soon.

Lord Skrolk
Just a quick update with some more Warhammer Quest stuff.
Lord Skrolk. I'm quite chuffed with the dirty look I've managed to pull off here.
A few more goblins.
And an ashigaru from Bushido. I bought a starter set a while back because I thought they look cool. I'll find some use for her, I might make up my own rule set for her.
I've decided to set myself a challenge. I'm going to try and paint all my Anglo-Zulu war stuff before the end of the year. This includes Rourke's Drift itself. Could be quite hard going, there's a lot of Zulu's. Wish me luck.

Zulu!
Well after a very crappy couple of weeks (my car's engine died and need replaced) I'm back and I've been painting up a storm
First thing's first is The Hero's of Rourke's Drift set from Warlord Games. My mum bought these for my dad's birthday and got me to paint them. I have a set of my own that I bought along with Warlord's Rourke's Drift set a couple of years ago that I've never got around to painting but I had so much fun painting these that I've set myself a challenge. To finish painting all my Anglo-Zulu war stuff by the end of the year. For those of you familiar with the film Zulu (I watch it several times each year) you will recognize these four. Starting on the left we have colour sergeant Bourne (Nigel Green), private Henry Hook (James Booth), Lieutenant John Chard (Stanley Baker) and Lieutenant Gonville Bromhead (Michael Caine).
And back to my dungeon delving usual
some more old school night goblin netter clubbers
some plastic grave guard. These will serve a dual purpose, wights for warhammer quest and grave guard for my vampire counts army.
and some plague censer bearers. Again these will serve a dual purpose of being both adventurer fodder and elite (if you can call any Skaven elite) troops in my Skaven army.
I've also taken on a painting commission for my cousin.
I'm painting all his space hulk genestealers. Here's the first four. I think they've turned up quite nicely.
I'm going to get onto the next batch of genestealers so until next time happy wargaming.
